Op een treinstation hoor je van alles: de piepjes van de poortjes als je in- of uitcheckt, de stemmen van reizigers, het geratel van rolkoffers, en nog veel meer. Voor blinde mensen zijn geluiden extra belangrijk. Ze gebruiken ze om de weg te vinden, maar de geluiden vertellen niet alles. Zo kan het lastig zijn om bijvoorbeeld de wc te vinden.
Kunnen nieuwe geluiden daarbij helpen? Psycholoog Fenne Roefs (VU Amsterdam, Mijksenaar Lab) zoekt het uit! Doe mee, kruip in de huid van een geluidsontwerper en bedenk welke geluiden verschillende plekken op het station beter vindbaar maken.

Train stations are full of sounds—the beeps of ticket gates, the chatter of travelers, the rumble of rolling suitcases, and much more. For blind people, these sounds are even more important. They use them to find their way, but sounds don’t tell the whole story. Finding the restroom, for example, can still be a challenge.
